Percy Orlando Guest, Age 33

Percy was another soldier who had been born and brought up in the Dawley district. The son of Orlando (a Shingler at an iron foundry) & Eliza Guest of 169 Church Rd, Malinslee.
Percy had enlisted in July 1916 whilst living and working in Smethwick for the local corporation, before this he had worked as a preserve packer whilst living at home.
He joined the Royal Engineers with whom he served in the Inland Water Transport Section (I. W.T.R.E). It was whilst serving with this section that he accidently drowned in the Persian Gulf, Mesopotamia on 21st July 1918.
